Blogilo – The Blog Gigolo – KDE 4.4

I’ve recently come across the application Blogilo, which I from here on out will reference as the Blog Gigolo. Most of my blog posts I do in the wordpress backend, in a web browser since it’s what I knew.

However, recently I found this awesome application which is supposed to be shipping along side with KDE 4.4. The name Blogilo comes from unknown source to me, although I’m sure there is quite a compelling story behind it, and I’d love to know it.

Ok.. So enough about that.. the actual application was very very simple to integrate with my WordPress Blog. I simply went to Blog –> Add Blog, and filled out the following box:

Here are some pictures from their configurations. Although to my dismay the “Automatically add “Powered by Blogilo” to every post” option was disabled by default. I honestly think they should ship it with it enabled, along with the “Enable spell checking” feature for the merks in the works like myself that can’t spell a darn’ed thing.

Here’s what the main page looks like with a single (this very post) open with the “Blog Posts” Toolbox opened. The other toolbox options are Post Categories, Post Options and Local Enteries, and I’m sure you can use your imagination to figure out what those give you.

Once I’m done with a blog entry I simply press “Submit”, choose a few options as seen below, and click “Ok”.

It’s a pretty awesome tool, that I haven’t yet used to its most its full capabilities, but I intend to use it more often to see how it can better allow me publish enteries to my blog. For the 5 people that actually read it that is.

    Story behind the Blogilo name:
“ilo” is the Esperanto suffix for tools. Hence Blogilo is a Blog Tool. Quite simple.
A new name had to be chosen as the tool’s old name was Bilbo and the corporate dickheads behind Lord Of The Rings threated to sue the app’s author.

I was blogging with the Firefox ScribeFire extension until I discovered this about 3 months ago. Being a GNOME user, I had to figure out what libraries needed to be installed. That done, it works very well and I have never returned to ScribeFire. I agree with your review.
