Just wanted to let everyone know that I’m planning on switching to a new domain name: www.freetechie.com I am doing this change so that I can reclaim benkevan.com as a personal site for my family and continue to provide blogs about things around technology etc. The new site will also be redesigned at some point. I’m not very good at all these redirect things, but plan on just doing a plainRedirect 301 / http://www.freetechie.com so that everything is redirected.. and clean it up from there. limo service . I’m actually hoping that the change in names won’t hurt my google rank too much, but also hope that it’ll be a better change, and will allow me to make it a more technology based site, that can grow, and hopefully I’ll be able to get some contributers on board. I recently received an email asking me who my hosting company was. This blew me away, because I thought the big huge “Hosted By” sign in the sidebar with a big blue banner was a dead giveaway, but boy was I ever wrong. With that said, I wanted to give some experience I’ve had with lunarpages. First off, when I started my site it was hosted by aplus.net, which was phenomenal service, but as they grew, so did the restrictions on the shared hosting services. While I was with aplus I kept getting 500 errors with my wordpress, wiki and coppermine installations, which were due to restrictions in place for the amount of concurrent transactions I could have (i forget the amount as that was 2 or so years ago). After these errors with aplus.net, I decided to host the services myself on an old outdated machine, but that didn’t last long as my 1 year old son at the time, thought the lights on the cable modem were too intriguing and he’d turn it off and on all day long thus causing un-expected downtime. This is when I met lunarpages, which was referred to me by a friend (who got the credit that I’d like any of you who decide to try lunarpages out to allow me to have). Since I’ve been on their services I’ve only had 1 unexpected downtime due to a DC power outage (during major storms last year), but have had no errors on any of my pages, and their shared server packages are not riddled with millions of different constraints which allows me to have a nice functional website, with a lost monthly cost (I wish I could reclaim the cost via ad’s or using some other method, but I’m not at that point). Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I migrated my site from locally hosted to LunarPages so I’ll have better up time (between the screw eatting 2 year old, and the unexplained power outtage or server downtimes I couldn’t take it anymore haha). divorce in indiana . david kim . I decided it was a little bit of time for change, and decided to change the look of benkevan.com. In addition to the new look I am going to start writing more articles not only for openSUSE, but for Linux and other distributions also. But wait, there’s more. I am also going to try to add a new section (if I figure out how) that will include a bunch of financial style news. Not only is the look different, I also decided to upgrade to the newest version of wordpress (2.7) and thought it’d be a good time to start fresh (I’ve been a bit quiet lately because of a huge project at work). I am also going to go back to all my posts and correct the taggings / categories, and try to make a section (a 3rd one?) for more updates of my personal life (for my little tyke). az family . Well, after alot of time dealing with Aplus.net and the Internal Server Errors (500) i’ve finally just put it to rest. They have the following limits in place:2 PHP Scripts per Customer at a time10 Concurrent MySQL QueriesSo that shouldn’t be too bad, should it? No, it shouldn’t. limos . factory card outlet . But then you have to take into mind you have WordPress. Spammers love wordpress, and how do they spam wordpress? With SQL of course, taking up a bunch of your Concurrent SQL queries.
