Chromium Browser Build Service by DBUCK

All,

Build Service User DBUCK has built a chromium build service repository:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dbuck/

If you have a previous version that I had built, feel free to un-install, then add the appropriate repository from dbuck:

For users on openSUSE 11.2:
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dbuck/openSUSE_Factory/ Chromium

For users on openSUSE 11.1:
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dbuck/openSUSE_11.1/ Chromium

For users on openSUSE 11.0:
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dbuck/openSUSE_11.1/ Chromium

There is a difference from the packages that dbuck is providing and the ones I previously build. Previously I was building just released packages which were branded chrome, and not chromium. Since these packages are being pulled from svn they are considered part of the chromium project, hence the name chromium-browser.

Once adding the repository above, you can install using:
sudo zypper in chromium-browser

you can launch running
chromium-browser

Thanks dbuck for doing this..

Can you guys give me the desktop environment you’re running on, and the version of openSUSE you’re running.

    Thank you

Where to report bugs for this?
Currently what I am on opensuse 11.2 M8 on dell inspiron 1420 laptop. I installed this packages. Looks better than previous built. However it keeps utilizing ~15% cpu even if no such websites are open.

  8. Hello,

Excellent work putting in Build service. Runs perfect for me openSuse 11.1 KDE 4.3.1

    Thanks a lot,

Hi. Thanks for highlighting my repo.

I am sorry if it isn’t perfect… packaging is kind of just a hobby for me (but it is more fun when there is a need) :]

I have tried to select specific chromium revisions that have the most of amount of green here:

    http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/waterfall/console

Every once in a while a funny one comes through… like the one where if you pressed while writing an e-mail, it would go back in history. Yeah. That was a fun one.

To give credit where it is due: malcolmlewis and BenderBendingRodriguez have been great resources in the OBS dev forum.

Oh. OBS user prusnak and I are working on getting this into openSUSE:Factory:Contrib project (as ‘chromium’) with patches to use more of the system’s shared libraries.

    Thanks again,
    D
