I had been using LN 8 beta on linux for 2-3 years and now suddenly i have to boot to windows in office as we use lotus for mails. The 8.5 evaluation is time limited to only 60 days so I can’t use that.

If someone has the beta RPMs i would really really appreciate if you could upload and give the link to me.

Hello, I’ve tried installing Notes 8.5 on OpenSUSE 11.1. After successfully installing the RPM, I start Notes. I only get a terminal window about the license, I select 1(accept) and then nothing happens. I’m running KDE 4 and libgnomeprintui is installed (ver 2.18.3-1.23). This is the 64 bit version of OpenSUSE 11.1.
Hope you can please help.

I realize Notes is apparently a 32 bit app, and I’m running 64 bit Linux. As per your blog, I tried installing the 32 bit version of libgnomeprintui, and that did the trick.

I created the missing file myself and restarted the install, I get exactly the same error. Some great installer IBM has made…
Any idea where can I get the 8.5 installer from?

What arch do you run?

Also, I would intall it with the text mode (when I installed 8.0.1 previously the gui installer was a pain with java.).

Installing in text mode was great.

Or try logging in AS root (I know I know) and doing it that way (previously that worked for someone also).

8.5 Final is out, you should check with your notes admin.

The installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with the -console or -silent flag.

I have read on the libxcb page about a locking problem workaround but again it made no difference. I get exactly the same error. Anyone seen this before? Any idea?

You installed the client and not the server.

You’ll have to download the server rpm’s and install.

(I think that’s what you’re asking for)

What desktop environment are you running? How are you starting Lotus Notes?

Have you installed libgnomeprintui? How about openmotif22-libs?

Please do the following:

sudo zypper in openmotif22-libs libgnomeprintui && /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/notes

libgnomeprint* are still required, rpm installation should be fixed to fail if those libs are not available.
