I am running opensuse 11 and I am unable to find the libgnomeprintui 2.2 or the libgnomeprint 32 bit packages. Notes needs them to run. The highest I can find in the rpm searches are 2.18 which is already installed. Please help.

Does anyone have Lotus Notes 8.5 BETA for linux ? Its no longer on IBM site and I've accidentally deleted my download.

I had been using LN 8 beta on linux for 2-3 years and now suddenly i have to boot to windows in office as we use lotus for mails. The 8.5 evaluation is time limited to only 60 days so I can't use that.

If someone has the beta RPMs i would really really appreciate if you could upload and give the link to me.
Thanks in Advance.

Hello, I’ve tried installing Notes 8.5 on OpenSUSE 11.1. After successfully installing the RPM, I start Notes. I only get a terminal window about the license, I select 1(accept) and then nothing happens. I’m running KDE 4 and libgnomeprintui is installed (ver 2.18.3-1.23). This is the 64 bit version of OpenSUSE 11.1.
Hope you can please help.
</blockquote>

fixed!!

I realize Notes is apparently a 32 bit app, and I'm running 64 bit Linux. As per your blog, I tried installing the 32 bit version of libgnomeprintui, and that did the trick.

This is a great blog, BTW

I am a Newbie and am trying to get my day to day applications onto the Linux side of my pc so I can use it full time.

I am having a slightly different problem trying to install Lotus notes.
Having looked through this forum and following the instructions above I am getting the message.:
Overall download size: 1.7 M. After the operation, additional 5.2 M will be used.
Continue? [YES/no]: Y
Retrieving package libgnomesu-1.0.0-296.11.x86_64 (1/6), 20.0 K (43.0 K unpacked)
Failed to mount cd:///?devices=/dev/sr0 on /var/adm/mount/AP_0x00000002: No medium found (mount: No medium found on /dev/sr0)

Abort, retry, ignore? [A/r/i]:

Is this a simple thing or not?

I run i386. I ran the installer as root in text mode as I needed to deactivate selinux before starting the install. I finally got this error:

        at com.installshield.wizard.Wizard$RunThread.run(Wizard.java:1822)

I created the missing file myself and restarted the install, I get exactly the same error. Some great installer IBM has made... :(
Any idea where can I get the 8.5 installer from?

<a href="#comment-7858" rel="nofollow">@grigo</a>

What arch do you run?

Also, I would intall it with the text mode (when I installed 8.0.1 previously the gui installer was a pain with java.).

Installing in text mode was great.

Or try logging in AS root (I know I know) and doing it that way (previously that worked for someone also).

8.5 Final is out, you should check with your notes admin.

Although I may be a bit offtopic I am writing here in hope for some help.
I am trying to install Notes 8.0.1 on FC10 with KDE. Notes kit is not a rpm, it is a binary version and unfortunately I do not have access to other linux Notes kits. FC10 was updated with yum update yesterday. After reading all above I have checked and installed as follows:

# rpm -qa |grep gnomep
libgnomeprint22-2.18.5-1.fc10.i386
libgnomeprintui22-2.18.3-1.fc10.i386
libgnomeprint22-devel-2.18.5-1.fc10.i386
libgnomeprintui22-devel-2.18.3-1.fc10.i386
# rpm -ihv openmotif-2.1.30.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
   1:openmotif ########################################### [100%]

It all made no difference. I get the same error as I did before installing openmotif:

The installer is unable to run in graphical mode. Try running the installer with the -console or -silent flag.

I have read on the libxcb page about a locking problem workaround but again it made no difference. I get exactly the same error. Anyone seen this before? Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Yogesh,

You installed the client and not the server.

You'll have to download the server rpm's and install.

(I think that's what you're asking for)

Andy,

What desktop environment are you running? How are you starting Lotus Notes?

Have you installed libgnomeprintui? How about openmotif22-libs?

Please do the following:

sudo zypper in openmotif22-libs libgnomeprintui && /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/notes

If that doesn't work can you paste the output or email it to me @ ben (dot) kevan (at) gmail (dot) com

Thanks.

I've a similar problem like David above. I read the requirements needed in the PDF from IBM, installed the libgnomeprint and -ui. The rpm installation went OK, but I can't get it running. I'd be very happy if you could give me a bit of advice. I've also have java 1.6 openjdk and -sun installed.
Just to confirm that Lotus Notes 8.5 public beta 2 works just fine under openSUSE 11.1 and KDE 4.1. Fonts are a little bit ugly but probably fixable.

libgnomeprint* are still required, rpm installation should be fixed to fail if those libs are not available.
