KDE 4.2 Day 1.5

So today was my first day starting off with KDE 4.2, but it came to a screeching halt this morning when I saw that my integration with GTK was horrible. (I had training today on some BMC software, and didn’t have the time to play with it until we got to break later in the day). I first just looked for something with gtk and kde in the name, and it netted me nothing from zypper, so I looked at the openSUSE repository and found that something in the Community repo, there was something named kde4-gtk_kcm so I added the repository with:

sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE4_Factory_Desktop/ KDE 4 Community Factory

Made it auto-refresh

sudo zypper mr -r KDE 4 Community Factory

and installed the said package

sudo zypper in kde4-kcm_gtk

Opened up systemsettings –> Appearance –> GTK Styles and Fonts and set it to the QtCurve style, and the outcome was great: GTK on KDE4Hopefully tomorrow will be my first full day. ohio divorce laws . I’m still looking for setting up mouse gestures for my compiz still along with a slimmer theme (bespin and others i’ve tried don’t really cut it). wedding photos . So here’s what I have for now:KDE

Didn’t you say you wanted to try KDE 4.2 full on, without the Compiz can of worms? ;-)

    Hey cb400f,

I am running it without any compiz. So used to calling composite effects compiz.. DOH!.

I want mouse gestures for my Kwin effects :)

I can’t find the package you talk about in here:

    http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE4_Factory_Desktop/

    What the hell is KCM?

    Thanks

    Hey Christian,

KCM I am guessing is KDE Control Manager.

And sorry I was mistaken, it is actually in the desktop factory repository.
